Japanese Legacy
Under the Japanese Legacy umbrella, there have been two symposiums that have been held in Florence, Italy – the inaugural event in 2014 and the second gathering in 2016. Each of these two day events included an exclusive visit to the fabulous Stibbert Museum where attendees had the opportunity to handle items from the renowned Japanese Armor collection, and a curriculum with high level presentations about Japanese armor given by some of the top experts in the field.

The Next Japanese Legacy event is planned for February 2018 in Leiden, The Netherlands with senior Japanese members of the NKBKHK scheduled to attend and present. See announcement here.

Siebold House Book Project
In early 2018, a new book project will be launched, based on the PhD thesis of curator and researcher Bas Verberk, one of the directors of the Western branch of the association. The book – a study on the connection between menpō and Nō masks – will be published in collaboration with the famous Siebold House in Leiden, The Netherlands.

Nantes Museum
In 2014, a very successful Samurai exhibition took place at the Château des ducs de Bretagne in Nantes, France. The catalog for the exhibition completely sold out and is being re-released in a new format that will also include several armors and helmets from senior Japanese and Western members of the association. Also included is a foreword from the President of the NKBKHK. The book will be published in late 2017.
